Friday Favorites: Patios, Rolled Ice Cream, and a Giveaway!

Hello from my new-and-improved website! Isn’t it pretty? ISN’T IT? The logo was introduced a couple of weeks ago, but it took me some time to get everything squared away with the new site. Big thanks to my friend Malika at Roamilicious for giving me pointers along the way.

I’m changing things up with my Friday Favorites. Next week (I hope) I’ll begin sending out a weekly newsletter called the Friday Bite. Sign up and receive five tips for the weekend ahead and access to discounts and deals. SIGN UP right here!

To celebrate the arrival of my new website I have a giveaway! It’s at the bottom of the page…keep scrolling!

Bubbles at The Optimist’s Oyster + Lobster Shindig this Sunday, April 23, 1 – 5 p.m. The Optimist is one of my favorite spots for oysters and their outdoor space is so inviting and just screaming for a party. For $50 you’ll get half-roasted oysters, mini lobster rolls, roasted oysters, raw oysters on the half shell, and baked oyster Rockefeller plus two beverages (wine or beer). I can’t think of a better way to spend a Sunday afternoon! Tickets can be purchased here.

“Matilda: The Musical” at the Fox Theatre. This is the last weekend it’s in town and while I won’t get to see it, it does sound lovely. I loved the movie as a kid and from what I read in this AJC review the musical adaptation sounds lovely. Plus, Tim Minchin wrote the lyrics and he’s HILARIOUS. Buy your tickets hereOr, if you’re a college kid, go to the box office two hours prior to the performance and grab your ticket for $25 (make sure you have your student ID, though).

Use #homeisthekey now through April 30 and Nissan USA will donate $1 to Habitat for Humanity. Earlier this week I attended a cooking class at Sur La Table and in between stirring our beurre blanc and searing our scallops we chatted about the importance of Habitat’s mission. Affordable housing is becoming harder and harder to come by, and their work is more critical now than ever. Learn more about Habitat and their campaign to see how you can help. Side note: Sur La Table’s cooking class was SO much fun. Our teacher, Ashley, was informative (I now know the correct way to hold a chef’s knife) and she kept the class moving nicely. Unrelated, I want to buy everything at Sur La Table.

Scallops with beurre blanc, anyone? I love when delicious food and good causes come together (#foodlanthropy)! 🤗 Last night I attended a cooking class at Sur La Table to learn more about Habitat for Humanity's #homeisthekey campaign. 🔑🔑🔑 If you're not familiar, Habitat works with families in need across the country and around the globe to build or improve housing. It's not a handout- the families take homeowner classes and put in hours of "sweat equity" by helping with other families' homes. Affordable housing is becoming harder to find, and Habitat's work is more critical. 🏡 Want to help? Every time you use the hashtag "homeisthekey" in April Nissan will donate $1 to Habitat! ✨ Have you ever volunteered with Habit for Humanity?
